We are proud. We are committed. We can make a difference.
We all have the potential to make a difference where we live. That is what Neighborhood Heroes is all about. When we invest our time, get to know our neighbors and work together, we are creating stronger neighborhoods.
Every act — no matter how big or small — can make a difference. When we care about each other and make a commitment to our block our community thrives. That is why NBC Chicago, Telemundo Chicago, St. Sabina Church, The Black Star Project, and The Chicago Community Trust have joined together to enlist Neighborhood Heroes from across the Chicago region and help tell their stories.
Black Star Project
The Black Star Project (TBSP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, action-based organization founded in 1996 to provide educational services that improve the lives of less-advantaged Black communities and to close the racial academic achievement gap. TBSP accomplishes its mission by educating, organizing and mobilizing parents and volunteers, and working with community partners to facilitate a wide variety of solid programs, high-visibility campaigns and other special initiatives.
Chicago Community Trust
The Chicago Community Trust is a community foundation dedicated to improving our region through strategic grant making, civic engagement and inspiring philanthropy. We are here to serve the nonprofit organizations, the generous donors and the thoughtful residents who strive to make a difference, helping their bold vision create lasting community change. We work with a number of partnerships and initiatives to accomplish this work.
